Skydiving is one of the most exhilarating experiences one can have. There are many places that offer skydiving over beautiful vistas, and it does not take that long to go over the safety briefings either. In just a couple of hours, you can be back on land, having had an unforgettable day. However, there are a few things that you need to be aware of when planning a skydive experience. Here are three things to keep in mind when booking so that you do not have any nasty surprises on the day that might spoil your mood.
Location
Many skydiving places are quite far out from metropolitan areas because they need a full airfield from which they are able to take off and land regularly. This means that you need to budget quite a bit of time to get there as well as back, and you may want to look for ones that are as close as possible. The last thing you want is to have to drive back home for three to four hours after skydiving. Also, make sure there is adequate, on-site parking or have a plan for how to deal with parking if on-site parking is not available.
Weight
While virtually all skydiving places want to accommodate everyone no matter who you are, there is a safety issue when diving in tandem with someone above a certain weight. Most skydive companies keep the maximum weight limit around 200-250 pounds (somewhere in there) although a few companies may cater to folks outside this range as well. If you do want to go skydiving and you find this condition affects you, then you need to look for a more specific skydiving instructor that is willing to take you.
Clothing
It is so easy to underestimate just how cold skydiving can be when you are up there. Although you might have a jumpsuit on, the wind is still reeling past you at hundreds of miles an hour, and it will feel sharp at times. Bring some sort of underlayer that is light, protects against the wind, and that you are able to take on and off easily so that you have a much more comfortable time. When it comes to footwear, it is better to be safe than sorry, so lace-up athletic sneakers need to be your main area of focus.
